A great deal of work has been done by volunteers at the entrance to the village to prepare the ground for a wild flower meadow. Pictured are a few of the volunteers who are moving surplus turf to the Common where it is need to fill holes created by an excess of rain over the last few months. The new footpath leading from the track by Combwich Common is arousing lots of interest and we hoped it would be available for walkers very soon. Unfortunately there is still a significant amount of work that is required to bring the bridleway and associated works, adjacent to it, to a standard that the developers feel would be safe to allow members of the public to walk. Come and fulfill all your Christmas shopping needs with our local craft makers and businesses. After visiting Father Christmas, your children can watch “Polar Express” (supervised by trained staff) while you browse and enjoy mulled wine, so come along and shop for that special occasion.
Come and meet up with friends and start your Christmas shopping early. Saturday 10th November between 10am and 12 noon at Otterhampton Village Hall. Lots of beautiful hand made crafts, including glass, stationary, jewellery and cards to choose from as well as home grown vegetables and plants, home made savouries, jams, chutneys, soups, bread and apple juices. Refreshments also available with home made cakes.
It’s that time of year again, dark nights, hopefully clear skies and the anticipation of the annual Firework Display.
This year’s event will be held on Sunday 4th November.
Come along and enjoy Burgers and Hotdogs available from 5:30pm.
The lighting of the Beacon, by our very own Helen Rees, at 6pm followed by a dazzling firework display at 6:30pm.

There will be another opportunity to get up to date with the development at Steart as members of the project team will once again be on site at the Stert Drove compound this Friday 26 October at 6.00pm. Paul Gripton received a Somerset County Council Chairman’s Award for Service to the Community at a Ceremony in Taunton last Thursday 18th October. The citation read: –“Otterhampton Parish Council is delighted that Paul Gripton’s service to our community has been recognised by this award. We are pleased to inform you of some recent changes that we have made to our Flood Warning service for the Tidal River Parrett at Chilton Trinity, Combwich, Pawlett, Dunball and surrounding areas.
We regularly update our flood maps and flood warning areas to make sure that our warnings are as accurate as possible. Following a recent review, we have improved the way we define our flood warning areas, which have been changed to better reflect communities at risk of flooding.
